Reddening-Free Q Parameters to Classify B-Type Stars with Emission Lines

چکیده

The emission-line B-type stars constitute a heterogeneous group. Many of these show similar optical spectroscopic features and color indices, making it difficult to classify them adequately by means photometric techniques. Thus, is relevant deal with appropriate classification criteria avoid as many selection effects possible. For this purpose, we analyzed different reddening-free Q parameters, taking advantage the Gaia 2MASS surveys, for both main sequence stars. Along work, provided various search normal stars, using color–color, Q–color, Q–Q diagrams. It was also possible identify in transition phases (i.e., (Rp−J) vs. (J−Ks) diagrams) according their NIR radiation excesses (Bp−Rp) (H−Ks) diagram). Other diagrams, such QJKHK or QBpJHK (Bp−Ks), were very useful classes emission lines. These diagrams highlighted presence several classified CBe, large that seemed be caused dust envelopes. Therefore, would misclassified. Three groups HAeBe intrinsic properties distinguished. amount diverse well-recognized via QJHK QBpRpHK diagram. are important tools automated designs machine learning optimal algorithms.

Letter to the Editor Emission lines in the spectra of late-B type stars

We report detections of weak emission lines in the red spectral region of sharp-lined chemically normal and peculiar (HgMn) late-B type stars from high spectral resolution and high signal-to-noise data. Most emission lines originate from high-excitation states of the ions Cr II and Mn II, with others likely to be attributed to Ti II and Fe II. The emission is observed to extend over the entire ...

Forbidden emission lines in Herbig Ae/Be stars

The absence of high velocity redshifted forbidden lines in classical T-Tauri stars (Appenzeller et al. 1984; Edwards et al. 1987) has long be taken as evidence of opaque circumstellar disks: disks which occlude the receding component of the stellar wind or outflow, allowing only the blueshifted emission to be observed. There has been some controversy in the literature recently as to whether a d...

Absorption and Space Reddening in the Galaxy from the Colors of B-Stars.

The stars of spectrum class B, with their great intrinsic luminosities, furnish a means of testing the transparency of space. The present work grew out of a conversation in the autumn of 1930 with Dr. R. J. Trumpler, who afterward kindly furnished us with a list of B-stars which promised to reveal some of the space reddening which he had found in a study of open clusters.' The observing list fi...

Visible neutral helium lines in main sequence B-type stars: observations and NLTE calculations

Spectra in the visible range 410 710 nm have been obtained for a sample of main sequence B-type stars to determine the behavior of neutral helium lines with effective temperature and gravity. Equivalent widths have been compared with new calculations which combine the capabilities of LTE atmospheric models of including millions of lines contributing to the opacity and accurate NLTE treatment of...

Ionizing Photon Emission Rates from O- and Early B-Type Stars and Clusters

We present new computations of the ionizing spectral energy distributions (SEDs), and Lyman continuum (Lyc) and He I continuum photon emission rates, for hot O-type and early B-type stars. We consider solar metallicity stars, with effective temperatures ranging from 25,000 to 55,000 K, and surface gravities (cm s) log g ranging from 3 to 4, covering the full range of spectral types and luminosi...
